Utterly flummoxed, I am. But, hold fast and we'll piece this mystery together yet.I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy. I'll be your hope, I'll be your love, be everything that you need. I love you more with every breath, truly madly deeply do I will be strong, I will be faithful 'cause I'm counting on a new beginning. A reason for living. A deeper meaning. Advertisement Getting a real strong Robin Williamsy vibe on that first line which could mean one of two things: Aladdin or Flubber. Leaning towards Aladdin because of the wish part, but when juxtaposed with the Obama fanfic (unverified) of the second line it becomes clear that this stanza was lifted directly from a love letter penned by Bill Clinton. The rest of the verse just shovels more evidence onto this theory.I want to stand with you on a mountain. I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this forever. Until the sky falls down on me Advertisement Chorus here. Kind of an extension of the first verse, which leads me to question how it wasn't in the Starr Report. The sky falling down part is a clear reference to Independence Day. This little tidbit shows that President Bill Clinton imagined himself as a little bit of a President Bill Pullman who would do cool stuff like mountain stands and ocean baths and eternal sex until hostile aliens killed his lover and freed him for further glory and conquests. And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky, I'll make a wish send it to heaven then make you want to cry The tears of joy for all the pleasure and the certainty. That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of The highest power, in lonely hours, the tears devour youTo be frank, this verse is just a thinly veiled euphemism for receiving oral sex in the Oval Office at night. Creepy and not terribly subtle, but hey, I didn't write the thing. I want to stand with you on a mountain, I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this forever, Until the sky falls down on me Sponsored This damn catchy chorus is what made Truly Madly Deeply a hit. Pretty shocking how us sheeple missed the connection between "Deeply" and Watergate's Deepthroat. I guess you could consider us pop-culture archeologists at this point, Like Indiana Jones with a Discman instead of a whip. Same hat though. Oh can you see it baby? You don't have to close your eyes 'Cause it's standing right before you. All that you need will surely come Advertisement Advertisement What we have here is an entire verse of a man talking about his own erect penis. If I had a nickel for every time I've written that sentence. This isn't even good dirty talk; I'm sure all the person you are about to engage in intercourse with needs is a good, solid dicking and that is the extent of his or her needs. Very self-centered, probably the extent of foreplay right here. I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy.I'll be your hope, I'll be your love, be everything that you need.I'll love you more with every breath, truly madly deeply doBack to the initial lyrics, once again trying to obfuscate the truth with Flubber and Aladdin. We will not relent though; I have asked my country what I can do for it and my country told me to find out the truth about that one Savage Garden song so here we are. Still wondering why the song isn't titled Truly Madly Deeply Do, though. Makes me think of poop. Advertisement I want to stand with you on a mountain I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this forever. Until the sky falls down on meI guess you could make a case for the chorus being about an older man taking a younger lover until he eventually passes away of totally natural causes, leaving his younger lover bereft and wishing for death's sweet embrace that is still in all likelihood decades away. That kind of strengthens my argument though. I want to stand with you on a mountain I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to live like this forever. Until the sky falls down on me Advertisement Advertisement Last time for the chorus, and the end of the song. We are left with what could be the greatest prologue of a mid-90's presidential scandal rock opera ever written. Hard to know as the rest of the rock opera was never recorded due to the sky falling on Savage Garden. What we don't know yet is if this song is actually written by Bill Clinton, or if Mr. Garden got ahold of some sensitive docs, discovering his POTUS muse in the process. This hardly matters at this point, but could prove pivotal for the 2016 election. The truth will set us free.
